{Mommy Must-Haves}

I have so many friends expecting little ones, so in honor of them, I thought I'd post some goodies from the archives all about my Mommy Must-Haves...
I'm overcome with joy every time I hear that a friend or family member is expecting a sweet baby, and I think my heart will always skip a beat when I see pictures of husbands and wives in hospital scrubs anxiously awaiting the arrival of their new bundle of joy.  I have these feelings because I know exactly what they are about to experience.  It takes me right back to the day that our sweet Kate was born…It will always be the most wonderful day of my life, and it was then that my heart became whole.  She is the littlest, biggest part of our lives…She's the BEST part of our lives.

Those first few weeks of being a new parent were definitely a learning experience, and they are times that we will cherish forever.  My family and friends offered so much advice and support, and I will always be grateful for that.  My parents spent the first week of Kate's life with us, and that week will forever be the best week ever!!  It was then that I learned so much about being a new mom from the two people who are the most wonderful parents anyone could ask for, and I feel so blessed to have them as my support system as I take this journey in my life.

I started my "Mommy Must-Haves" series in hopes of being a support system to those of you who are about to embark on the journey of becoming a parent.  Every new day presents new challenges, and hopefully some of my tips will help you along the way.

I came across this nursery checklist, and it's a great tool to use when preparing for your little one.  Throughout the past nine months of Kate's life, we have acquired everything on this list…They really covered all the bases, and I hope it helps you as much as it helped me.  So, print it out, check it off, and have your nursery prepped for your little one in no time! :)

{Natural Bug Spray}

After a massive spider came strolling past my bed the other night (sending me into a panic that left me flying 10 feet in the air), I decided to take matters into my own hands. I immediately concocted a natural bug spray that is safe to use around my babies, and I sprayed that stuff all over my house. Spiders be gone!!

Here's how you can make your own:

  • 5-6 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
  • 5- drops of Lemon Essential Oil
  • 1-2 drops of liquid dish soap
  • Warm water
Add essential oils and dish soap to a clean spray bottle. Then fill with warm water and shake until mixed well. Spray away! :)

{Nûby News: Flip n' Sip Weighted Straw Cup}

We are absolutely honored to be a part of the Nûby family, and we continue to fall in love with all of their products. When we introduced the new Flip n' Sip Cup to Kate, she was instantly thrilled! She couldn't wait to drink out of it, and she loved the double handles and flip top.
As a mom, I personally love the fact that it doesn't leak, the flip feature keeps the straw clean when the cup isn't in use, and it's easy to just pop into the pouch of my diaper bag when we're on the go. Here are some other great things to know about the Nûby Flip n' Sip Cup w/ New 360 Weighted Straw:
  • Active Sipeez: No-Spill Soft Silicone Straw
  • Suitable for kids 12+ Months
  • Holds 8 oz / 240 ml
  • New 360 weighted straw allows your child to drink from any angle and reaches low level liquid
  • Twin handles allow your child to get a firm grip
  • Touch-Flo Valve
